Removing Xitami

I recently went surfing for an FTP cllient that would work with Fedora, I have v 2.6.12-1.1376_fc3.i686 installed on a 60 Gig HD, and want to use an FTP program to run and upgrade my (22) Web Sites.

Needless to say, nothing much worked, I tried Prozilla, Screem, etc, but everytime I got to ./configure, it came back and told me either it couldn't find the package (makefile - which I could SEE was unpacked and in the folder) or else it said there was nothing marked for it to do and exited.

So, I ran across Xitami, which wasn't quite specific enough on the Web Site I got it from to mention it was a sever, and I was looking for a client.

You can guess what happened, I installed it, and it hooked me up in gratitude by connecting me with the MICROCRAP Web Site.

EEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...................

NOW, I want the DAMN THING OUT, but it won't uninstall.

Same thing - no packages 'marked' and nothing to do, so the effort exits.

Can someone PLEASE help me ??

I do NOT want to be an 'FTP SERVER', all I want to do is DL my files to upgrade and maintain my Web Sites, and that's all.....

PLEASE help - I'm caught in stupid mode, and I can't see my way out of the forest....

Thx -

Do you still have the source directory? If so, cd to it and type 'make uninstall'.

CS-CAM:

Nope.

Like the other FTP programs I tried to install, it just wouldn't go, so I found a way to do a Net Install off the site, and it installed.

An ls search won't turn up the files, so I posted about the problem here...

Your whole post sounds pretty strange to me. Why aren't you using gftp which should be already be part of your Gnome desktop - is there anything wrong with it, or you just never found it?
Why are you trying to install everything from source instead of using yum?
How on earth did you install Xitami? 'Net install' of Xitami? What the heck is that ?!? Where did you get such a thing?

Anyway. The simplest way of finding where the files went would be to use 'locate' command. But first you need to be sure it has up-to-date info about your system, because it doesn't automatically index your disk like the next generation of tools will...
So, first of all, log in as root, open a terminal and type 'updatedb'. Wait until it finishes, it should take aobut 20 seconds or so. Then try typing 'locate xitami' and see what comes up.
