Gentoo - X won't start

Hi all,

I wanted to have a look at Gentoo in VirtualBox (2007.0 liveCD). I get the pretty loading screen but then an error message comes: failed to load GLcore (loader failed, 7)

I reordered the modules in xorg.conf so that glx gets loaded before GLcore but now I get no drivers available and no screens found error.

Any ideas how to get VirtualBox 'video card' going?

I got the same problem.Yesterday I burned the same cd,tried to install it but X want start.I found on gentoo's web site statement that this is kind of normal.I tried as root X -configure and some screen did show up with a mouse cursor in the middle of it and that's it.Maybe I just have to wait longer for X to start because something similar happened on another distro and after some time X started.I have ATI Radeon 9200 SE.The funny thing is that when I press F2 for verbose mode during boot,I can see that my video card and everything else is recognized.

Hi folks. I've found a way to make X starts. At least it worked for me.
Go to xorg.conf
1) Replace Load "GLcore" to the bottom of the list. ( not sure it's necessary )
2) In the "card0" section set Driver "vesa"

then # gdm
and login screen appears.
