Hi! I've been trying to fix my Kubuntu system with a Live USB with the image file in it. It turned out I downloaded the wrong version, 16.04, when the version I have on my system is 14.04. So, I downloaded the right version in a USB drive. And I downloaded Universal USB Installer to make it possible to fix the system from the USB drive. The thing is, I can't run the program (Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.6.6.exe) without WINE in the Live USB. WINE doesn't come with the image file, and I can't download or install it from Live USB. And I can't copy the image file (14.04) to the hard drive of the laptop with command line either in Live USB.

Any idea how to fix this problem?
i think you are misunderstanding how linux works, esp. updating softwares.
please dump your current install, do some reading on how linux, linux distros and package management works in 2016, make an informed choice on which distro you want to use (always remember: looks are changed easily on ANY distro), and start from scratch.
also, you really DO NOT want to upgrade from one major ubuntu version to another (e.g. 14.04 => 16.04)!!!!
