Where did you get firebird from?
Being bloated - yeah.I got a bloated gentoo install.I could unbloat it,though.I suppose you could do the same with RH.Still be needing rpm's.

From my experience, most of the newbie distros are bloated with the default install. Mandrake being the worst that I have tried. I understand the thinking, if they are new they don't know what software they need so lets give them lots. Poor newbies end up with so much excess crap on their computers.
