What's the best KDE based distribution? I like Ubuntu...but Gnome just feels plain laggy, even when I have XGL installed with graphics drivers working. I played with Kororra some and KDE felt much faster; having the auto-configured XGL was nice.
This wiki will get you through just about anything. While written around Gnome, it will work fine with KDE, you just have to modify some of the commands(ie, use kate instead of gedit, etc) and your sub menus might be a bit different.

I've already tried Kubuntu. It doesn't have official support; I found it quite lacking in quality.
Thats because it is Ubuntu with KDE as a desktop environment. The support for Kubuntu is the same as that of Ubuntu. To see if I'm lying, type "apt-get install kubuntu-desktop" in your Ubuntu terminal and you will get Kubuntu. Nothing is different with the filesystem or the way it operates, just the shiny-ness.
Or, and here's a serious idea, download some and try them. Deciding that a distro is only worth your while if it comes with KDE preinstalled is silly. This is Linux - get a distro you like and install KDE.
