A good SAN distro/program?

Hey, I want to build my own SAN,

but I wont be manageing it,

so I want a good distro that has some form of web interface or similar whereby management can simply take place, (e.g. Network Settings etc.)

Whilst webmin, is good, i didnt know if there was any other more focused things that could do it, even if there is a program that could do it on top of another distro (e.g. Redhat)

Thanks in advance.

matt.

It seems to me that SAN is a very general term, what is it exactly that you're trying to do here.

by software, do you mean management or access

what you're describing is formally known as a headless file server.

If you want a complete solution , I suggest tha tyou buy a complete SAN device. in terms of "SAN" software, it totally depends on what clients will be accessing the deive and if you intend to implement it via UPnP (which is the only difference, that I know of, between a SAN and a file-server).

* what clients are you using?
* how many clients are you supporting?
* are you planning on buying a specific type of hardware for this?
* are you planning to build this from spare parts?

in short, please describe what you're intending to accomplish and your responses from me will be far more helpful and specific
