XGL mouse not repsonding

Hi,

I have recently installed XGL following the novell cool solutions article: Xgl on SUSE 10.1 for Gnome and KDE with NVidia Graphics Cards (which is what i have).

I followed it down to the letter, i finally got into KDE and it works for a few seconds (wobbl start menu), but then the mouse can't click anything, it moves but can't click anything, so i'm kind of stuck there.

How do I restore xorg (noting the changing of symbolic links in the artice) so i can at least have an usable desktop on linux so i can maybe download anything i have missed.

There is also this link: Using Xgl on SUSE Linux
Which goes on a lot about gnome and things, I have no gnome stuff on my suse as i prefer KDE, although I did install xgl and compiz through yast so it should have got me the dependant files right?

There is a secton in that article called "default Packages", I've not done this, and now I have no way of doing it because I am locked out of the desktop, is there anyway to get xorg back working so i can do the little things?

Oh something else too, xgl has a desktop cube, 4 desktops, before installing xgl i had 2 on the taskbar, now i have only 1 even.

HELP!! I'm not familiar with the cli end of linux but i guess i will follow the instructions given here...

Thanks

Google for the guide, "Hacking Suse 10.1" and try setting up your xgl exactly the way they have it. Also, you may want to try putting "HardwareCursor" "True" as an option in your xorg.conf so it'll use the nvidia card for rendering.

Hi,

I tried that hardwarecursor thing, it's still the same, the desktop comes up ok, then it goes blank for a second and comes back (i guess thats xgl/compiz switching on), and then i can't get the mouse to open anything by clicking, it moves around fine, also the cursor freezez on the symbol it was on last, like now it's stuck on the finger (typing off my desktop here)... maybe it's my synaptics touchpad? the keyboard does nothing on the desktop either, i can go to another session via ctrl-alt-F2 etc, but thats about it... any ideas?

**update**
I did rebooted, and it kinda worked a bit longer this time, xgl definately works as firefox bounced up to full screen, but soon enough the mouse died again, still moving but not clicking!

was that any help?

thanks
