Im tryin to install ubuntu 10.04 on my new dell laptop. at first, i couldnt get it to install at all, it just freezes after splash screen. i (acpi=off noapic and nomodeset)and was able to install, but now it runs slower that dirt, or freezes at login screen. i tryed ubuntu forums and was less than helpful, and ubuntu suport that was about the same.

i was told to run this command, (sudo lshw -C display )

popojijo@popojijo-box:~$ sudo lshw -C display

Try 11.11 or another in live cd. Try at least opensuse 12.1 and Fedora 16. Do they work correctly? Did you test this disk.

i started out with 11.10 ubuntu, and was only able to get 10.04 to install. all disks were checked and came out fine. i tried fedora and was not able to get anywhere, less than my ubuntu10.04.
**also, wireless doesn't work, but wired works.
