Start xscreensaver with -no-splash in KDE

Debain 11
KDE 5.20.5

I have xscreensaver starting in KDE but I can't get it to NOT show the splash screen. This is ~/.config/autostart/xscreensaver.desktop.

Code:
[Desktop Entry]
Comment[en_US]=
Comment=
Exec=xscreensaver -no-splash
GenericName[en_US]=
GenericName=
Icon=
MimeType=
Name[en_US]=xscreensaver
Name=xscreensaver
Path=
StartupNotify=false
Terminal=false
TerminalOptions=
Type=Application
X-DBUS-ServiceName=
X-DBUS-StartupType=
X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false
X-KDE-Username=
X-KDE-StartupNotify=false
So I have the -no-splash option set, yet the splash screen still appears on startup. How do I stop it from showing?

I must ask, as I don't recall seeing a splash screen when an xscreensaver screensaver starts (other than "loading images" for an image manipulation screensaver), what precisely you mean by a splash screen?

It looks like this. Shows when I'm logging in and then disappears. If you start xscreensaver from command line it only shows this screen when xscreensaver is starting if you don't add "-no-splash".

You misunderstand. It doesn't show this screen when the screensaver timer kicks in and the screensaver starts. This shows when the backend is starting.

theres some code in xscreensaver that kicks up the splash screen regardless of the nosplash option if the app is more than a year old get the dev to update the package or build from source.

It asks for your password.
I have never used xscreensaver as a screenlocker, maybe you should examine that in its preferences.

BTW, 2013? I gather that's not your screenshot?
