"Secure" correspondent to WebDav

Hi all.

I have been testing out remote-sharing-mechanisms on Fedora lately; and have already tested ::

a. FTP

b. SFTP (barring the query at http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...12#post4630212)

c. WebDav (http://tutorialsplus.net/how-to-set-...-on-fedora-13/)

However, following queries still remain ::

1. How to prevent "write access" on WebDav?

2. Secure WebDav. I have been unable to find any reliable link for this.

Could someone please help.. :| And in general, which method is the most preferred generally (I guess it would be a tossup between SFTP and Secure-WebDav..)

Thanks and Regards,
Ajay

On some more discoveries, there is a general opinion that WebDav is suitable for use as locally-mounted shares; something which I am wanting to avoid.

Also, supposedly, SFTP is different from FTPS.
Now, I like the functionality provided by FTP - easy to read/write; easy to deny-write from server side (by commenting out "write_enable=YES"). The only thing remaining is secure transfer - something that FTPS should take care of.

So, I guess FTPS would be the best thing (given the requirements); I managed to get hold of link http://fedora.wikia.com/wiki/FTP_Server_%28VSFTPD%29, BUT IT GOT INTERRUPTED MID-WAY

Could someone please help me in setting up a FTPS server and a FTPS client??

Thanks and Regards,
Ajay

A very simple query::
Is WebDav over HTTPS (or over SSH, or over any other encrypted mechanism) even supported in Fedora (14) ?

Looking forward to a reply.

Thanks and Regards,
Ajay
