Question Problems building Xorg-6.8.2

I am trying to build a VNCserver on an old box that was sitting in my basement. As it stands now I have build all packages required up to this point, and as follows,

GDM-2.6.0.9
librsvg-2.9.5
Popt-1.7-5
libart_lgpt-2.3.17
libxm12-26.20
Python-2.4.1
GTK+-2.6.7
Xorg-6.8.2
libpng-1.2.8
Fontconfig-2.3.2
FreeType-2.1.10
expat-1.95.8

all of these have went queitly with minimal force required, until I got to libpng-1.2.8. It has repeatedly given me prolblems even thought it has been sucessfully installed according to 'make check'and if you can't tell, I'm new so this gave me the impression all was fine. When I move on to Xorg-6.8.2 I get the following error when trying to build the package, ./configure didn't work, so I tried make=Makefile.ini and then make install and this is the end of what happens...

And thats as far as I've gotten. I can't seem to find any help in the forums, so even an idea of where to look for troubleshooting help, that would be amazing.

Install the devel package of freetype and hopefully that will resolve your problem.
