Now soliciting any and all advice on installing and setting up Linux on a MacBook Pro

The MacBook I mentioned here is on the way to my house right now. Unfortunately, I won't be at my house for another 2 weeks, but I'm reading all I can about making MacBooks into Linux machines because, frankly, I'm a little nervous.

I hope this isn't considered a duplicate thread. I don't think it is because that one was about asking which distro would work for a MacBook while this one is about asking for advice on installing, setting it up and working with it.

I've read articles and watched videos, but I'd like to ask the members of this forum this question because I want to know specifically about issues you have run into and how you solved or got around them.

Thanks

P.S. Here is some info on this MacBook.

1. It's a 2017 MacBook Pro 13. I was told it was a MacBook Pro 14 but there appears to be no such beast (I know next to nothing about Apple products other than the iPad I recently purchased).

2. 16G RAM, 2.5 GHz i7 processor, 512 GB SSD, Retina display, 802.11ac Wi-Fi wireless networking; IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n compatible, Bluetooth 4.2.

The operating system (which will be going away ASAP) is macOS High Sierra (version 10.13).

Now, here's a little about me:

1. Not a computer guy but I'm getting there.

2. Three years experience with Linux (two different distros: Ubuntu and Mint).

3. Zero MacBook experience. I've never even sat down in front of one. Prior to getting my iPad a few weeks ago, the last Apple product I worked on was an Apple II in the 1980s.

Note to admins: if you do consider this a duplicate post, please delete it and let me know. Thanks.]
