KDE sets working directory wrong in non-systemd systems?

I just hopped to Void Linux, and previously i used Gentoo (with OpenRC).

In both these systems i used KDE Plasma, and i've had this problem: launching an app via keyboard shortcut sets its working directory to /. If i launch it instead from the menu, the working directory is correctly set to ~.

AFAIK there is no requirement to set the default current directory in linux DEs, so there is no correct or wrong way to do it. If you want a program to start in a particular folder you should specify it explicitly in a wrapper script or a .desktop file.

In systemd distributions they launch in ~, so that's really what i'm trying to make happen. for *all* apps. Also, in literally every other desktop environment, this problem doesn't happen.
