err if gftp cannot establish a connection, then i doubt it's gftps fault, more likely a setup with the network/firewall etc. I use GFTP and it sutis my needs perfectly, there is the CLI FTP client aswell
Code:
man ftp

the gft establish the connection whit ftp.dell.com. When I try with my address ftp.pop.rcts.pt, gft try the connection then said that must wait 30 seconds to reconnect and than blocks. There's no messages. My ftp site is not anonymous. I must use a username and a password.
