Failed to execute dbus-launch to autolaunch D-Bus session

I wanted to post a fix I found for the following error:

There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.

The last error message was:

Failed to execute dbus-launch to autolaunch D-Bus session

GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.

My .xinitrc had the following line:

exec gnome-session

when I changed it to:

exec dbus-launch gnome-session

Gnome launched without the error message

don't know if it will fix every occurrence of this error, but hopefully it will help someone
