Question Dictionary under linux

Hi all,
I am missing some nice english-english dictionary in my Fedora Core 5. I have "kdict" but it gathers from online database and takes time. I dont like it!

Is there some local english dictionary software for linux?

Moreover is there some French-English Dictionary??

Thanks

In Debian you have the dictd package which is a daemon that runs locally on the machine and you can install various differnet dictionaries that it will use to serve up the definitions perhaps Fedora has a similar option. For the French-English Dictionary there are also a couple of options I would check to see if the same applies.

Code:
apt-cache search French English Dictionary
dict-freedict-eng-fra - Dict package for English-French Freedict dictionary
dict-freedict-fra-eng - Dict package for French-English Freedict dictionary
latrine - curses-based LAnguage TRaINEr
texlive-latex-extra - TeX Live: LaTeX supplementary packages
babytrans-dic-engtofre - English to French dictionary
