I guess that depends on your window manager
With my WM (i3), I can program key-combinations, like:

bindsym control+mod1+m exec ~/launch-my-dmenu.sh
Note, the above is the syntax of my WM config file, NOT a console `bindsym` however if you want to bind keys in the console, use:
shell$
bind -x '"\C-m":~/my-script.sh'
and while that works well, I have found it also seems to make the console act weird sometimes.
Your best course of action is to configure a key-combo using your WM, however it does that.
