ATI on SUSE 11


HI,All
actually i am a brand new Linux User(just yesterday ) and i faced a problem with my VGA driver as i can not get the resolution as i need except doing it manually from display and once PC rebooted it became as 1st time and its not fitting 100% the screen as still there is a hidden part from the desktop.can anyone help solving this issue.my VGA Card is ATI 9800 pro.thanks for support.

First boot your suse with safe graphics mode to be able to see your whole screen,
Then install your ATI driver from here.

it didn't work.it works only when i open the configure desktop and ONLY click on display it goes fine without doing anything more.and a strange thing is it works very fine even after install the driver when i enter in failsafe mode.

We can try something else , being in the failsafe mode login as root
Start yast and than hardware>graphic card and monitor
Write down the settings
It will probe youŕe graphic card and monitor again,
If you get a good picture and the settings are OK save it
log out as root
log in as a user and tan startx
If it goes wrong use the original settings

actually i did this also but didnt work,every time i login again all saved setting gone,thanks all for sharing and supporting but actually i go to Fedora 10 and its ok with this problem.
