Greetings, it's been a long time since I've been active on this forum (so long that I no long have access to the email that I originally signed up!)
I've recently encountered a weird issue where a purple vertical bar is showing up on my Linux desktop environment (
see screenshot 1). This issue just started randomly occuring after I walked away from my computer for a short bit and returned, no system / package updates, reboots, or anything else inbetween. Some specifics:
- It always appears in the same place
- It only appears over *white* background colors, for example see the
2nd screenshot with linux questions being displayed, the issue only appears in the white areas
- It appears on all Linux desktop envrionments (gnome, kde, etc)
- It does *not* appear when I boot into my windows partition
- It goes away when I switch the gnome 'night light' mode on
Relevant lspci:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics P630 (rev 04)
01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM206GLM [Quadro M2200 Mobile] (rev a1)
I have tried with the propertary nvidia driver and without, nothing seems to rectify the problem.
I am currently confounded and don't know where to begin to debug. Would someone please be able to advise? Even some pointers of what I could search for / what I could try to debug would greatly assist. Thanks!
