Hello! I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 5000 series. I installed dual boot with Deepin 15.2 & it was working beautifully until today. I went in to Windows 10 (which I seldom do) to do some work & when I rebooted to go into Linux (my main OS) it refused & simply went back to Win10.
I finally decided to reinstall Deepin only now it refuses to finish the install. I've tried both normal & expert mode to no avail. I've also tried with secure boot on & off to no avail.
Any ideas as to why before it installed without a hitch & now it simply refuses to. (same iso image)
Lots of possibilities. One would be if you left windows hibernated. Boot it and turn off anything related to fast boot and hibernation and give it a try again. windows hibernation is default behavior. If that doesn't work, try getting boot repair from the site below and run it after selecting to "Create BootInfo Summary" and post a link to the output here. Do NOT try to make any repairs.

That tells us nothing - much more detail needed; where does it stop, any messages ?.

Floundering around generally makes matters worse - especially for those of us you subsequently ask for help. We have no idea of what's been done.
As for the initial problem, looks like Win10 (or a Dell utility, they've done things like that before) reset the UEFI NAND and deleted your Linux/Ubuntu/Deepin (whatever you had) boot entry. Have a look at the efibootmgr output; you should have an entry that boots the /EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi shown on /dev/sda1.
We need to know what the Deepin installer is failing on, and how far it got - maybe the BootRepair would in fact fix it for you; impossible to know from here.
Back when trying 10 for a second (before VM-ing it http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ml#post5395965)
I would have to logout out then back in repeatedly, after backups of course! Or, like mentioned disable hibernation completely then (logout and back in repeatedly?)

thank you.
