I'm new to linux and after playing with a few live distributions, I picked deepin to learn with. Only problem is, I can't find a guide on how to install it to usb, either a full install or persistent live install. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
If you're trying to put the .iso of Linux Deepin on a USB device to be able to install it all you need is Rufus.
Using Rufus will help you to make Linux Deepin bootable. Once the USB device is bootable just go into your BIOS and make the USB device to be the first choice in the boot order. Save the changes and exit. When your machine reboots it should boot right into Linux Deepin.

no i'm trying to install it to a bootable usb. I've already got it ready to install on a usb, but the only option when you boot from it is to install it onto my internal hdd

No i'm trying to install it to usb so it can be bootable. I've got the live iso already, but I'd like it to be persistent. My internal hdd isn't that big, so my windows 10 partition takes up too much space. I've got a 64gb usb i'd like to be able to use to just boot up a linux system whenever I felt like learning.
The op said either one in first post. I agree that live iso with pesistence would be better. Rufus doesn't do persistence. With two live usb's created by rufus can use one to make the other one persistent

Damn I've got 2 usbs but the 2nd one is filled with media. When I get home to my computer I'll check and see if I've got enough storage to move everything over to my hdd.
colorpurple21859 is Deepin just like Debian Live where you need to make a seperate partition on usb to have persistence?
I don't us deepin so I really don't know. Here is one howto of many on how to make a debian persistent usb. May work since deepin is based on debian. I think one thing that was left out in the link below is that the persistence partition needs to be formatted as ext4 http://www.fabbnet.net/Live_Persistent.htm

Were you able to make Deepin bootable so you can run it?
Well I installed it and booted up deepin, but the screen stayed black while the boot up sounds played. I decided to pick a different distro, but I'll be doing the same thing I planned to do with deepin.
