*Nix Training
Hey Guys,
I am not sure if this is the right forum for this or not but I thought I would give it a shot. I am looking for some unix training (besides the self taught book method, which I have and am doing). What I am looking for is a boot camp type, classroom, structured training that will give me a jumpstart to learning the ins and outs of the OS. I don't necessarily need you to do the research for me, just kind of point me in the right direction.
I don't know a whole lot about the platform, so a basic course will do for now, with a more in depth administration course to follow.
Google search returns so many results, it's kind of daunting trying to figure out the best one to choose.
If you know of or could recommend any place like this (sorry cant post the link yet):
"This hands on course provides training on standard UNIX/Linux commands and utilities used for day to day tasks including file manipulation, program execution and control, and effective use of the shell and X Window system. The course presents the concepts necessary to understand the way UNIX works as well as the system's most commonly used commands. Data manipulation utilities and shell syntax for synthesizing command pipelines are emphasized. Bourne and Korn shell programming is introduced so students will be able to read and modify existing shell scripts as well as create their own. The X Window System is also introduced from a user's perspective, including configuration of the user's environment, use of the window manager, and use of several standard X client utility programs such as xterm. Proficiency in applying new skills is reinforced with extensive hands on exercises after each module.
that maybe offers a course sooner that would be awesome!
Any and all help you can give would be greatly appreciated. It is for work, so price is a consideration, but not a limiter.
