Which scenario?
In any case, when it comes to email clients + Tor it should mention that there has been very little research on how safe that is. I've done some
rudimentary research on the most obvious leak, and Thunderbird in Incognito is safe with respect to that (but there can be other faral leaks too). I wouldn't use that combination if my life depended on it, thoug.
The safest way to use email with Tor currently is to use a webmail service that doesn't rely on JavaScript (like
lavabit.com) in Firefox with Torbutton enabled (the default in Incognito). If you are dead serious about anonymity you should also use PGP encryption since normal unecrypted email is about as private as sending a postcard through the real worls mail system (i.e. anyone can read it). For that I'd recommend the FireGPG Firefox addon (ships with Incognito) since it can interface with any webmail service (see the
Incognito walkthrough).
