tarball downloads to index.html

I have installed gentoo before with no problems. But after I cd /mnt/gentoo and use wget it seems to download properly but I get the message that it is downloading to index.html which of course doesn't work.

Suggestions?

Thanks

A link to one or two of the things you are trying to download.

Also, what is the output of this command?

Code:
ls -l /mnt/gentoo
Note that files would normally be downloaded from websites to your home directory or one of its sub-directories. /mnt and /media are for mounting physical media, such as hard drive partitions. This has a good intro to the Linux directory hierarchy: http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/09/...tem-structure/

Great! What was the fix? Your answer might help someone else.
