Gentoo is easier to deal with if you update regularly, at least once a month. Otherwise, problems pile up, and when it comes time to update you have to deal with them. When the system is really outdated I usually recommend reinstalling afresh, it's usually quicker. Let's see if your compilation succeeds without big problems now. If affirmative, don't forget to run revdep-rebuild after that. Running this won't harm either:
Code:
lafilefixer --justfixit
# emerge lafilefixer first if you didn't install it before
python-updater
perl-cleaner
revdep-rebuild
I have no idea, maybe there's been some important (and massive) stabilization of packages lately and I didn't notice it.
Or maybe (and probably) some of the recompilations are due to you not having set the use flags permanently, as I explained above.
The command I provided you (emerge -auDvN world) makes sure that everything is resolved, and packages that need recompilation due to use flags are also recompiled this way. So, that's a plausible explanation. To be sure I'd need to see the output of "emerge -puDvN world". But, the cause is not too important right now. Just remember to save your USE flags in make.conf in the future.
Sorry for the delay but i hadn't time to write here..
The emerge -auDvN world fisished its work. Only net-libs/webkit-gtk-1.2.6 that returns the error is left.
So .. A new weired behavior occured when if going to login.. E.g i type user name and a list like this http://pastebin.com/5AxLmsNJ returned. The same list printed when i type and the password..
Did you try this series of commands I posted above?
Code:
lafilefixer --justfixit
# emerge lafilefixer first if you didn't install it before
python-updater
perl-cleaner
revdep-rebuild
If that doesn't help, you should look at bugs.gentoo.org and see if someone is having the same problem, and, if not, report it. I am not much familiar with webkit-gtk.
