I installed gentoo using the livecd and I follow the Gentoo quick install guide. When I start gentoo, grub is popping up with this grub>. From the guide this is used to install and configure grub.
Whats the problem??
The quick install guide is an abbreviated version of the handbook and is not intended for users doing their first few installs.
As you get the grub> prompt, grub cannot find its grub.conf file.
That may mean that the menu.lst -> grub.conf symbolic link is missing.
One of the old (now depreciated) liveCDs omitted that symlink, resulting in an install that won't boot.
