gentoo and kde3

Since kde3 is now out of portage, when I "emerge -auvND world" I get messages like
Quote:
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "kde-misc/kdnssd-avahi:3.5".
I run gnome with a few kde packages like k3b and k9copy but dont care about the full kde desktop.

My questions is since the kde packages I use are now kde4.something, can I safely unmerge things like kde-misc/kdnssd-avahi:3.5 when they arise?

You should be unmerging every package that is no longer in the tree. However, the problem might not be that straightforward to solve. It might be some 3rd party package from an overlay that you have installed which is pulling kde 3.x packages into the system.

As this issue pops up I will unmerge the packages rather than removing too much and possibly causing problems.
