enable modules kernel 4.14 (gentoo/linux)


Hello team

I want to recompile kernel to enable some features (wirless_card) in gentoo/linux , is that any way to do this without break the old configuration .

Kernel drivers are independent of each other so rebuilding with an additional driver shouldn't cause any problems. Most Gentoo users craft their own kernels, choose the drivers they want to include, and don't build any others. I assume from your post that you used the genkernel tool to get your existing kernel. Believe me, it's much more fun making your own!

Some wifi cards require firmware to be loaded and that's a bit tricky if the wifi driver is built in, so I would advise building it as a module
