emerge lower version of program

Hello,

I'm trying to emerge a lower version of Ktorrent. I neet Ktorrent 3.* but portage installs 4.*

How would I get it to install the lower version?

I tried:

emerge ktorrent-3.2.1

What steps should I take to do this?

Thank you

There is no version of ktorrent < 4.0.5 in the tree.

You are going to have to search for an ebuild and install it into a local overlay, then mask ktorrent >= 4

Installing ktorrent 3.x will be much more painful than that, since it requires kde 3.x, which is not in the tree either, which in turn requires qt 3.x, which is not in the tree either. If you truly want to keep ktorrent 3.x you could try the kde-sunset overlay, via layman. But I have no idea if it's still alive and I have no idea either if ktorrent is amongst the packages it can provide.

If you have layman already setup (I'll leave that as an exercise, and google can help) then all you need to install the overlay is

Code:
layman -a kde-sunset
Then install whatever packages you want from the overlay.

Thank you both for your help.

I've decided to use deluge instead.

The torrent tracker I use doesnt support ktorrent 4.x yet but it does support the current version of deluge.

I'll wait until it supports ktorrent 4.x

Again, thank you.

If you did ever need to emerge a particular version of a package (that is in the portage tree), you can use
Code:
emerge =net-p2p/ktorrent-4.0.5
, for example.
