Hello, I've been running Gentoox on a dedicated Xbox for a long time now; and as I like to keep my systems reasonably up to date I would like to bring the whole system to a recent version of Gentoo, however recent versions of backbone packages such as glibc and gcc won't sit with a 2.4 Kernel - which is what is officially supported in the latest GentooX release.
Is there a way to safely upgrade and mantain usability and performance? I've read around these and other forums that FATX support on 2.6 was a major pain, is that still true? Are the patches available at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/xbox-linux/files/ actually good?
Googling i found this .config:
http://pastebin.com/ZxPFYKaW
Do you think it will work fine?
After I finish compilation, are there any special considerations for installing the binary?
I hope someone can take the time to answer
