Are the gentoo forums down?

When I try to connect to the Gentoo forums I get

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

Is anyone else having this problem?

solomonHk,

I believe the data centre whey they are hosted is having connectivity problems.
I don't know any more than that.

Thanks for the replies. Is this site a good alternative until the Gentoo forums comes back on-line?

The Gentoo forums were moved to a new hosting some days ago, in principle everything worked like a charm, but maybe some problem has arised now. In any case, I am sure that the responsible persons are working hard on bringing them back as soon as possible.

Yes. The GSE project was created for this purpose precisely. And right at this very momment I am very happy that we took the GSE initiative; at least there's some place where the forum users can ask for information when the official Gentoo forum is down.

This subforum is not that high-traffic as the Gentoo official forum, but we try to do our best.

I also remind you that the official gentoo mailing lists are up and running, so you can as well post to them.

In fact and on 2009-08-07 at 7h50 am eastern time, the forum is still down.

Last night, the forum was up at 10h30 but I don't know why, but this morning, we still have the phpbbb connection failed.

... and now it's down again...

... and now it's up again....

... and now it's down again....

... and now it's up again ...

... and how it's down again ...

I think I see a pattern developing...
