Hello there friends, I really appreciate all the help you gave me with the multiple Os problem I had. I come to you guys again with a much more seious problem. I run a Debian and Vista on my machine but the major problem is with the yahoo I use on vista. There has been a breach and I cannot fix it and I need your help. The problem is that somebody found a way to intersect messages between the connection with the party I talk to. As a matter of fact 2 friends on Yahoo Messenger. I don't know what to do. If anybody thinks he or she can help me, reply back and i will be give the specifics. It has gotten to a point anytime he logs in my friends are unable to log in to chat with me, and i cannot do anything about it. Thank you
You should go ahead and give the specifics now so people will have some idea of how to help you. But I would do the following:
1. Run anti-virus and anti-spyware scans, with the computer unplugged from the net if possible.
2. Verify that your firewall is working properly.
3. Back on the net, go into your Yahoo Messenger account and change the password. Or better yet, delete the compromised account and create a brand new one.
The main problem is that the intruder or interceptor logs in as one of my friends except a link appears with the id. Any time he sends a message the link appears with it. Before i found this out i started up photo share with my friends and he was able to copy the picture and he now uses it anytime he logs in. He does not pop up on another window, its like he takes over the window i use to chat with my friend and it some how logs her off. I don't know if this is enough information for you to know exactly what and how he does or doing it.
So, are you actually chatting with your friend, and then the intruder appears to take over her account as you are chatting? Or does he take over her account as soon as she logs in and before you can chat?
If he is logging into your friend's account, you can't do anything but try to convince your friend that their account, and probably their computer, has been compromised. The link is probably a link to malware and/or a phishing site, probably the same technique he used to compromise your friend's account and/or computer. It *sounds* like this is something only your friend can do anything about. You could remove that person from your friend list and block them, but that's about it.
