who has a short attention span?

Hi everyone

I myself don't have a very good attention span due to dixpraxia thrown in with traits of dyslexia.

What I was wondering is how many other people here don't have a very good attention span?

The reason I ask is because learning Linux is a rather slow process for me personally, so while the information is there I find it difficult to read most of it.

Do you think more should be done to help those of us who find this learning process difficult?

While a lot of effort is put into documentation do you think people should pay more attention to how the information is presented?

Any opinions would appreciated

I tend to have a short attention span when there's nothing iteresting me. Like english class for example, I tend to let my mind wander. I was really interested in linux, but I still found myself needing to push myself through the documentation

Yes I agree

When you have to read through essayish documentation I find it hard to really pay attention so I have to force myself to read it... not always successful

I have a pretty short attention span. Certain things I can pay attention to better than others. Network Security class? on the edge of my seat, EG11? slept through that class (still got a B+)

I have ADD without the hyperactivaty and probably Aspburger Syndrome. I hear Bill Gates has that too. Lots of times when I read something I just skim past most of it. Unless it's either short or very interesting I can't stay focused on readig it all.

Do you feel the same thing when you write something ?
Those terms are all recent and they were created from the standard that society needs and what it thinks everyone should be. And guess how they dare to correct it ? With chemicals that mess with your brain. They now say it's the norm to make them pay. Everyone has at least one neurosis. Bah, I hate it.

Simply, there are cases when you can add attention to something that does little to capture it.

I actually find it easier to express myself on paper (or a word processor) first before saying anything because I can correct everything I write before putting my foot in my mouth, otherwise I might just as well be speaking some jibberish language to people.

I type way faster than I write so it's not so bad with a keyboard in front of me, but ya, I handed in a lot of blank papers when I was in school because I couldn't focus on anything, and we didn't have the luxery of word processing everything like kids seem to have today.

I'm a lot like that myself though I still find it difficult to read, even in the electronic format....

Very short attention span, and it seems to get worse as I get older (and no, I'm not THAT old!)

I have an incredibly short attention span, but I have a fairly good memory, so I can usually pick up where I left off when I get back to whatever I had stopped doing.

I'm 32 and I can remember things from when I was a kid like as if it just happened yesterday. I seem to amaze members of my family because they can't even remember half those things.
