Starting a open source project

I have some programing skills. However, I have an idea for an open source project that extends far beyond my skills. The idea is for a new method of filing sharing. What's the best way to start an open source project? I've thought about source forge. However I doubt I could interest any good programmers because right now I have nothing. All I have is an idea. If you're interested post replies here. I'm probably going to start a source forge project. I'll post back soon with more info. You should note that my idea for a file sharing program is different from anything I've seen. I'm not quite ready to reveal the details, because there's some kinks I have to work out. Anyway, rather or not I post what ideas I have depends on how many people are interested.

hi,

well first of all you should have something already or it should be such an amazing project that good programmers would come and code for you. there are a lot of good projects out there so if you don't have anything solid i doubt a good coder will give your project a try.

better thing you can do is find some friends who can code (in your school or wherever) and start of like that. brainstorming and coding together. after having your beta 0.000001 and you publish it (e.g on source forge), you might find more interest from pro coders online, if it is a good project.

good luck,

hope to hear from your project one day

Point made. I'll see what I can do, and maybe in a year or two I'll have enough code to post on sourceforge.
