Angry Software signature is required..Do you trust the source of the packages ?

OpenSuse 11.2
LXDE DE

The package manager keeps prompting me with a dialog box titled as above !!

I am getting mad now as it keeps on popping in the middle of the screen after every few minutes.

I clicked cancel, it again pops up . There is no quit button. How should I get rid of this popup ?

Kindly help !

Shouldn't you just install the required "software signatures"?

Even if that would be the only way to get rid of those pop-up warnings?..

That's not true UnSpawn, what if I wouldn't have had an internet connection, to get rid of that pop up should someone buy an internet connection and then install something which they don't want ?

Ah, well, if you're looking for an answer to a hypothetical question then please excuse me while I move this thread to the /General forum...

I am not sure what exactly did you mean here by "hypothetical question".
Since this thread is not going to have a solution hence you are free to close it or move it anywhere you want.

Since you're not inclined to even try offered advice I'm leaving this here and unsolved.

If you didn't have an internet connection you wouldn't be using a package manager in the first place!

Not necessarily true...

In one of my debian boxes, I use the full DVD set as the repo... Synaptic asks me for the DVD where the package(s) are...

In one of my Arch Boxes, pacman.conf points to an external USB HDD where i have a snapshot of core, community extra and multilib repos...

pacman and synaptic do not need an internet connection to work properly...

But aren't signatures only needed for internet downloads?

I remember having a similar problem in OpenSuse a couple of years ago (I was just trying it out). It was an update always showing, no matter if I had the latest version. I think I reinstalled it with yast or zipper and the problem disappeared... If you don't want or need to install the software signature, then maybe there's a way to tell the package manager to trust the source of the packages, no matter what? Or maybe an option to not notify about it? (not a safe practice, obviously! )

Regards.
