i have a collection of old movies that i have seen and saved in bookmarks. all of them i thought were really good, but i dont remember most of them. i have a bad memory, which is good because i can watch them all again and forget how they ended. i never download anything any more because i would never have enough room.
i have them divided into category by date (silent, 1950 and prior, 1951-1969, 1970-1999), by artist (17 of my favorite actors, but not all old, mostly i think are though). i like chick movies, also film noir, fantasy and any that come up with an ending i couldnt have guessed. i cant go through all the links to see if they still work, i notice a lot of times i go back to watch something i bookmarked and youtube has taken it down. most of what i watch is from youtube, and i use vivaldi browser with no extensions and they keep the ads off.
mostly i think i like love stories, but there are murders, crimes and mystery, and others i would say with plots that dont fit in categories. oh, some christmas ones and a few uncategorized i think. very little action movies, rarely westerns, some historical ones. i like period movies, i like to see the costumes and furniture. i love the old cars, the buildings.
if anyone is interested in something like that, i could make an html of the bookmarks and add as an attachment. or if attachments cant be downloaded, and if there is some other way, i would be happy to try.

I'd be interested to see a selection of links to your favourite old movies online. Although this thread is not about lists of movies, but about links to old movies online, where they can be immediately viewed on the webpage. Old movies now out of copyright,

hi grumpy,
it would be an html of the bookmarks in my browser...so the name of the picture would be there, and if it could be reproduced live from, the list itself the movies could be clicked on. what i would have to do is to download mozilla (which i left some years ago) and export my movies bookmarks to it, (so that i could erase all the ones that are not movies) and then export those into being an html list. but if i attached that as a file, i mean an .html file, would a reader be able to actually download a copy of it as if i had emailed it and then they could click on it? they are mainly youtubes, most of the copyrights must be gone. they are all free, i only watch free movies because there are so many good ones available, why would i do otherwise? i have been doing this for maybe two years and i havent yet run out. i started with only black and white but now i do watch some color ones.
one thing though is that i am not particular about the quality of the video. i have a certain standard of course, but it would be lower than most people. my eyes are not very good so the picture can be fuzzy, i am accustomed to turning it down to 360 and i never watch the hd ones-it is a waste for me. the sound isnt too important either because my hearing is bad and i usually put on the cc option. watching that, if it is generated automatically, is sometimes hilarious, and it is totally uncensored-i mean i have seen some x-rated mistakes in them that are a riot.
i have two browsers, vivaldi and brave, actually i also have falkon, though i will be deleting it, and between the three of them i cant transfer the bookmarks to falkon, which is empty-they dont export to each other and mainly use mozilla, opera, chrome, and i dont use any of those. in fact ubuntu comes with mozilla, but i removed it. but i wouldnt mind installing it just for the purpose of being able to export the bookmarks to it and make the html if it will be usable by someone.
It is easy to make links in your LinuxQuestions forum post by copying the URL of a webpage - given towards the top of the screen in any web-browser - and then pasting it onto your forum posting. The built-in forum software will turn the pasted URL into a link automatically, there is no need to do any coding. I suggest giving links to a few of your most favourite to start off with.

I tried one of these old movies last night - 20,000 leagues under the sea.
It was weird - a mix of one of the evil villians from James Bond movies, Around the World in 80 days, and Alice in Wonderland. It was of course full of racial stereotypes and someone wrote in a tough, rude, obnoxious American for some reason. The fairer sex was so stereotyped they had no actresses - no leading lady.
