??? what is this a "net" install of ubuntu from a mounted iso ?
please explain .
from where and how are you running that ?
and where did you get that command ?
I want to install ubuntu system file package Ubuntu7.tar.gz which I am told will work on my Toshiba AC100 netbook, ref:
http://www.o-learn.com/content/howto...-toshiba-ac100
The above system file I downloaded to the Fedora PC for installation onto the Toshiba netbook from the PC via USB cable. But first the mkfs command is entered on the Fedora PC but directed to the relevant dev on the Netbook;
sudo mkfs.nilfs2 /dev/your-ac100-storage-device-name
The instructions are to unmount the Toshiba netbook from the Fedora PC before using above command. The Toshiba was infact mounted to the Fedora system automatically on connection via USB, so unmount was necessary and was successful using the umount command (on the commad line of the Fedora PC). So all is going to plan. The gateway is now open for the mkfs command (entered on the Fedora PC) to create the nilfs2 system format on the Toshiba netbook via the USB cable.
then this ??
yum install nilfs-tools
apt-get install nilfs-tools
These are simply attempts to download and install nilfs-tools which is the package which provides the mkfs program with what it needs to do a nilfs2 system format on a drive (as far I know).
on the SAME fedora os ?????
fedora dose not have or use "apt-get"
So its a Fedora machine driving the whole thing, creating a Ubuntu system on the Netbook.
Yes I did have to download apt-get as a rpm to use it on the Fedora machine but without difficulty. So it seems to me that without the nilfs-tools bundle on the Fedora computer its mkfs command is unable to do the necessary format. But I can't find it on the net.
I hope that explains it better.
