Post X11 Fw: and VNC


what's that X11 forwarding ? over ssh what port is forwarded? is it the same as VNC?

X11 forwarding has nothing at all to do with VNC otherwise it would be VNC...

X forwarding uses port 6000 byt default, and uses a local X server to display applications running on a remote system. it's not like with VNC where you're just looking at a picture of a remote system, the gui is being directly drawn and updated by the lcoal machine.
