I have been using this guide as a source to configure my graphics card on Fedora 10.
http://fedorasolved.org/video-solutions/nvidia-yum-kmod
So, things were working as far as I can tell. I slogged through a yum update, and when I rebooted there were two separate versions of Fedora Core on the GRUB loader. Strange, but the IRC told me in it's infinite wisdom that this is normal. I booted in, and installed kmod-nvidia, and rebooted yet again.
The latest version of the kernel (-170) hangs at the X system.
I can still boot into -117 successfully.
my /etc/X11/xorg.conf says that my driver is "vesa". What?
At the suggestion of the IRC, I booted into the -170 kernel at runlevel 3 and ran a system-config-display --reconfig, set my driver to "nvidia" and tried again. Still hangs.
Any suggestions?
