Temporary directory on LiveCD version (on USB key)

I have a Fedora9 LiveCD (with persistent overlay) on my USB key. Works great!

I would like to write a flag file which dissappears after each reboot. Is there a directory which is wiped clean upon each reboot?

Yes, /tmp should be wiped on each reboot - in fact a 'garbage collector' might run which cleans out /tmp more frequently than that.

Look in your fstab file to see how /tmp is set up - since you're essentially running a live CD distro, odds are /tmp uses 'tmpfs' and will definitely be gone on the next reboot.
