Sun One Studio

I just installed all my Fedora stuff and I was getting ready to install the community edition of Sun One Studio 4 Update 1. and it don't work. up until this I have had no problem installing stuff and making it all work but wouldn't you know on the last damn thing I try I get a hiccup. Just in case you don't know S1Studio is a self-extracting rpm (a .bin file). in RH9 all I had to do was double click on it and it opened right up. no such luck here. even running it from command line it still won't work.

do you have permissions correct on the file? Often, a file will be set without the ability to execute, just to be on the safe side. In the command line, something like 'chmod u+x' might help. 'ls -l' should tell you if this is the problem. No x's in the permission area, no execution. Hope this helps. Of course, I'm assuming you're trying to install this while root.
