Hey everyone..

I was relieved when I found out the problem why my analog speakers were playing audio, but my digital speakers weren't in Fedora Core 3 when the installed driver was correct. However I am now experiencing trouble with playing my audio CD..

First let me mention, using Ubuntu Live CD I had to manually select the input device before I could hear the audio CD.

I gave "Execute" writes to users and groups to /dev/hdd, just to make the system play the CD (earlier it was refusing to even spin and gave a "Disk Error on the CDPlayer screen). Now, using CDPlayer I see it picking up the CD and the audio meter is running, but I am not getting any audio out of the speakers.

In Audio Control, the CD tool's "Mute" button is unchecked and "Master Volume" is unmuted as well.

The system sound test works just fine..

Any explanations/solutions...

10SPlayer, your audio cd, if it is what i think it is, is a common problem. If you can, add an analog audio cable to it. It's a four pin cable. If you don't want to add a cable, you can install Xine, or a digital cd player.

To expand on to my situation given your answer... I do have the analog (4pin) audio cable connected. Despite that, Ubuntu can play the audio CD(with CDPlayer application) but Fedora Core 3's CDPlayer can't.
