Question shutting down computer does not auto power down...

Hi!

I'm a COMPLETELY NEWBIE (well, a 95% one) and I have a question:

I have Fedora Core 1 and a P4 with hyper threading, my bios supports auto shut down (Windows does it) but when I press shut down on Fedora, it does everything well but appears a message "POWER DOWN".
Now, I expect my computer to turn it off automatically, but it happens nothing.
How can I fix this?
I am also using Grub for booting.

Ah! And a last question, can I make "Shut Down" preset when I press End Session button instead of Logging Off?

Thanks a lot!!

The command to actually shutdown your machine is "shutdown -h now". That tells it to halt your machine. If you want to reboot, use "shutdown -r now". Oh yeah, and you might have to be root to execute those commands. BTW, what window manager do you use?

If u mean "Gnome 2.4" by window manager, that's what I use. If not, sorry, don't know what it is.

I'll try what you have said, but is there any wait to make this without having to open always Terminal to shut down my pc?

Thanks!! ^_^
