RealPlayer/Helix Player will not play Mov and AVI files. Can I make it play them.


I have Helix Player installed, and when I try to load up a Mov file or a AVI file with it, and it does not play it. I also have RealPlayer 10 Installed. It does the Same ting. Anyway I can make it work?

sounds like you didn't install the codecs. Goodluck, i hate those things with a passion and i always have problems with them.

you need to do something like: (* this is not correct dont run these *)
yum install gst-plugins-ugly
yum install gst-plugins-good
yum install gst-plugins-bad

if you search google for "linux codecs" you can find a bunch of info on how to get these installed.

yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly

I did fix my problems, simply install the Livna Repository and type:

yum install mplayer

That should fix the problem, because it is from Livna it has full support for most Movie types.
