Problems with Fedora 9 live CD: no network using DHCP (Realtek NIC), how to copy2ram?
Hello everybody,
I'm running Fedora 9 Live CD i686, but I found a few problems...
The 1st one is a questions: how can I run/copy the live CD image to the system memory (RAM)? So it is much faster than running it from the CD. This options was on the boot menu on Fedora 7, but was removed since Fedora 8. I tried "toram" and "copy2ram" but they didn't work, probably because I'm not telling it what to copy and where to copy it to... My computer has 2.5GB of RAM so I love this feature :-)
The 2nd one is an actual problem: I have 2 NIC's, both are Realtek RTL8139 (one is on-board eth1 and the other one is PCI eth0). The problem is that I can't get the configuration from the DHCP server in order to get on-line. I have a local DHCP server (Netgear router). I tried recreating the network configuration but it doesn't work, but I haven't tried entering the IP/DNS/Gateway, etc. settings manually.
Both problems are also present on Fedora 8 Live CD i686. Fedora 7 Live CD i686 works perfectly. I don't have Fedora installed on my hard drive, I know hardware recognition is much better with you install it, but I'm running RHEL 4 WS on the same hardware and it works fine too.
Thanks in advance :-)
