pppoe connection swop

Hi,

I have a technical problem with my pppoe connections on my linux server (I route different ip ranges throught the 2 pppoe connections).

I am using Fedora 9 as my OS. I originally setup my 2 pppoe connections using the pppoe-setup scripts. They are named ppp0 and ppp1 respectively and in my /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts folder I have the two config files: ifcfg-ppp0 & ifcfg-ppp1.

In ifcfg-ppp0 I have setup my device to come up as device ppp0 (NAME=DSLppp0 & DEVICE=ppp0).
In ifcfg-ppp1 I have the same setup except that the device should come up as ppp1.

However my problem is as follows...

1. I bring down all pppoe connections.
2. Then I do ifup-ppp1
3. After the script completes my pppoe connection will be registered as ppp0 in ifconfig in stead of ppp1 (as specified in config file).

If I do ifup-ppp0; ifup-ppp1 everything works connect. It's only when i bring up the wrong interface first that the connections names are "swopped".

Does anyone know how to solve this problem ...???

Thanks
