I have a dell axim and am trying to sync with my Evolution on Fedora Core2. I got the SYncCe and followed everything dilidently. DIdnt have any issues with the installations. I connect the Axim to the USB port on the front of the PC. Tried doing the synce-config for ttyUSB0, 1,2 ,3. All of them give me the same error saying that the device doesnt exist. ANy pointers?
When I first tried this gpilotd kept segfaulting. After getting the source and doing a quick debug session I found some problems with the code scanning for my palm (I have a Treo) in the wrong place. It will also die if your permissions are set wrong.
I hackd up the code and got sync working again (Yeah!) but there is no connection with evolution. I'm still working on this but I'm a bit confused. This was working on kernel 2.6.6 under RH9 using the Ximian evolution setup but seems to have some serious issues under FC2. I'm going to dig for the evolution connnection piece next. I really liked having this work well!
Ignore my previous ramblings. The original code is fine. When I upgraded to FC2 I guess my /etc/fstab lost it's entry for mounting the usbfs. Added that back and also instaled the evolution-pilot package and I am back in business. Ah well, learned a bit about gnome-pilot and usb the hard way!
I read some posting about the sync-ing a Pilot to Evolution via gpilotd and your problems.
I do run Fedora C3
My situation is that I do can synch my Plam pilot IIIxe directly from the terminal window and
command line. I can make a buckup, synch and install software.
While using the gpilotd daemon the sync does not work at all.
I added gnome-pilot applet to the panel and configured it in best known way. I do use /dev/ttyUSB0 as I do
specify on the command line.
Any clue what I should do, or may be it is time to add a thread on the list ?
