No - that locks a version. It does not prevent another different named version from obsoleting it.

And I wouldn't want to lock giflib anyway - that would prevent giflib updates from being applied. I want those, what I don't want is libungif to depricate it. So I want smart to ignore libungif and pretend it doesn't exist.

I got a response stating that he might implement it as soon as he figures out what the useful behaviour should be.
