Sorry about the slow response. Life struck me harder than I thought it would last week.

After some research, the most likely path of least resistance would be to set up keyboard shortcuts within your desktop environment. In GNOME, it's https://help.gnome.org/users/gnome-h...ts-set.html.en, although the directions will vary if you're using another Fedora spin.

Go to Settings -> Keyboard -> Application Shortcuts and give the following commands keyboard shortcuts:

Code:
amixer set Master 5%+
amixer set Master 5%-
amixer set Master toggle
Saw here https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=5563 a quicker solution may be installing xfce4-volumed as that package should automatically handle volume key bindings.

Just for info, I have a lenovo y70 touchscreen laptop with fedora 25 xfce. All I can say is the volume keys on the keyboard work. I have to hold down the Fn key while using the volume keys (left and right arrow on my keyboard).

Unfortunately, none of the solutions worked.
I think that Linux is messing up things with two audio cards.
I can see "two" cards with alsamixer.
Usually I select proper card in Linux MATE, but I don't know how to do that in XFCE.
Selecting proper card in terminal, throught alsamixer, wont't work.

You can't select Audio Cards in the XFCE Settings -> Audio Mixer? At least in openSUSE's XFCE (which shouldn't be different) I can

Looks like there is no option "Audio mixer".
