Question Lost Directories and Files in Fedora 33 -- fedora_localhost-live00 FS

Is it possible the file table (FAT?) in a disk partition has been partially corrupted (overwritten) so that caja can't see these particular directories and files?

Almost anything is possible. Not much we can do with almost no info.
Presumably a fsck was run for you automatically on boot. There will be messages - check journalctl; for prior boots as well as the current. Also (as root/sudo) check the lost+found directory at the root of the filesystem involved.

Arrow Continuing the story...

Yes, I did a backup of what was left. Also, after a reboot, I did not see any auto-fsck messages and the missing directories are still not there. After looking at /etc/fstab, I see my /home partition is a btrfs, so I'm now looking up what can be done with btrfs cmds.
